Mi lista especial

I have a list of folks I know...

Tengo una lista de amigos que conozco
all written in a book,

todos anotados en un libro,
And every now and then..

y cada tanto..
I go and take a look.

voy al libro y le hecho una ojeada.

That is when I realize

Es en esos momentos en que me doy cuenta
these names... they are a part,

de esos nombres... que son una parte
not of the book they're written in...

no del libro en el que han sido escritos
but taken from the heart.sino del corazón.

For each Name stands for someone...

Ya que cada Nombre es de alguien

who has crossed my path sometime,

que se ha cruzado alguna vez en mi camino,
and in that meeting they have become...

y en ese encontrarnos se transformaron
the reason and the rhyme.

en la razón y el ritmo.

Although it sounds fantastic...

Aunque esto suene fantástico...

for me to make this claim,

para mi hacer esta revelación,

I really am composed...

Yo estoy hecha

of each remembered name.

de cada uno de esos recordados nombres...

Although you're not aware...

Aunque tú no percibas

of any special link,

ningún vínculo especial

just knowing you, has shaped my life...

sólo el conocerte ha moldeado mi vida...

more than you could think.

más de lo que te puedes imaginar.

So please don't think my greeting...

Asi que por favor, no creas que mi saludo

as just a mere routine,

es sólo una mera rutina,

your name was not...

ya que tu nombre no se ha perdido

forgotten in between.

ni ha sido olvidado 

For when I send a greeting...

Ya que cuando te envío un saludo

that is addressed to you,

es porque estás en la lista

it is because you're on the list...

de amigos a los que tanto le debo.

of folks I'm indebted to.

So whether I have known you...

Asi que si te conocí

for many days or few,

por mucho tiempo o por poquito

in some ways you have a part...

de alguna manera tú formaste parte

in shaping things I do.

en el moldeado de las cosas que hago.

I am but a total...

Soy un total

of many folks I've met,

de muchos amigos que he encontrado,

you are a friend I would prefer...

y vos sos un amigo de esos

never to forget.

que nunca quisiera olvidar.
